Dear Members, the only purpose of creating this platform is to bring the needy and the facilitator closer to each, as has been explained herein above. All the worthy members know their rights and duties towards needy. This work is just a refresher for all of us, here.
For those who have the love for Imam Ali asws and want to follow the seerat of Imam Ali (asws) must take good care of orphans. As Imam ‘Ali (as) was very kind to children, especially to orphans. If he ever saw an orphan crying, he would stop whatever he was doing, bend down, give the child his salam. wipe away the child’s tears, put his hand on the child’s shoulder and say, “My child, why are you crying? Has someone hurt you? Come, let me take you to my house.” ‘Ali (as) would take the child home and treat him better than any father. He would bring the child sweets and cakes and honey, and put them in the child’s mouth himself. This is what we are supposed to do.
We have many narrations that show the importance of caring and looking after orphans, here are a few:
- Abu -Basir said: Imam al-Sadiq (as) said: ‘Ali (as) used to declare, “I am the guide and I am the rightly guided. I am a father to the orphans and a help to widows and the destitute. I am the shelter of the poor and the weak and the asylum for all the oppressed people.” (al-Ikhtisas pg. 242)
- “Whoever takes care of the orphans, his children will be cared for.” Imam Ali (as) (Ghurar al-Hikam under the ch. Orphans)
- “Whoever oppresses an orphan has severed his ties with his children.” Imam Ali (as) (Ghurar al-Hikam under the ch. Orphans)
- Abu’l – Tufayl said: I saw ‘Ali (as) feeding honey to orphans when a companion exclaimed, ‘How I wish I too were an orphan!’ (Bihar al-Anwar vol.41, pg. 29)
- “One who takes charge of caring for the orphans is favoured in the sight of Allah.” Imam Ali (as) (Ghurar al-Hikam under the ch. Orphans)
Apart from the above sayings of imam Ali (asws), the holy Quran reads as below:
Have you seen him who denies the religion? He is the one who harshly rebuffs the orphan and does not urge the feeding of the poor. So woe to those who do prayer, and are forgetful of their prayer, those who show off and deny help to others.(Surat al-Ma’un: 1-7)
“(be good to) orphans and the very poor. And speak good words to people”. (Surat al-Baqara: 83)
So, from the experts of Quran and sayings of Ahlebait asws it is basically helping ourselves by helping the orphan and the needy (widows). Be a caretaker, so that you are taken care by Allah.
